Girls’ choir of the Sulkhan Tsintsadze Music College Gori, Georgia
The girls’ choir of the Sulkhan Tsintsadze Music College in Gori was established in 2010, under the direction of Nino Tsiklauri. The choir consists of more than 60 students from grades IV-XI (ages 12-18). From the beginning, the choir has been actively involved in concert activities, focusing on special creativity, artistry, and technical skill. The choir’s success has been recognized with numerous prizes and diplomas:
• Awarded the title of “Best Junior Choir of Georgia” and a prize at the youth festival-competition “Stars of the Future-2011”.
• Participation the Telavi International Classical Music Festival in 2011.
• Four times Winner of the Grand Prix and multiple gold medals and special prizes at the Tbilisi Choir Music competitions.
• Nino Tsiklauri has repeatedly received the prize for Best Conductor.
• Winner of the first prize medal and diploma at the first international competition of Choir music in Gyumri (Armenia), within the framework of the “Renaissance” festival. Also awarded a special prize for “Best Performance of a National Work”.
• Winner of the first prize and Grand Prix nominee at the international online secondary competition “Sibiriada 2020”.
• Winner of the Grand Prix and special prize for the best interpretation of a composer’s work at the first international competition named after Otar Taktakishvili;
2025- international Choir Competition RIGA SINGS & Imant Kokars Choral Avard:
Winner of the Category 3th international Choir Competition RIGA SINGS & Imant Kokars Choral Avard(and has received a GOLDEN DIPLOMA-Level-IV; Nino Tsiklauri has been awawded a Conductor’s Prise for outstanding achievement; GRAND PRIX-WINNER of the competition Imant Kokars Choral Avard 2025.
The choir is actively involved in Georgia’s concert life. It collaborates with the National Symphony Orchestra of Georgia named after Evgeni Mikeladze, performing works by Pergolesi, Mozart, Mahler, Fauré, Gyia Kancheli, and other composers. The choir participates in various festivals and concerts. Special creative cooperation has been established with the world-renowned Georgian composer Gyia Kancheli.
With the participation of the Georgian Symphony Orchestra, world-famous soloists Gidon Kremer, Giedre Dirvanauskaite, and the choir’s students, under the direction of Nikoloz Rachveli, Kancheli’s “Angels of Sorrow” was performed for the first time in Georgia.
Kancheli’s “Light Sorrow”, “Iavnana Mzes” ,,STIX” were conducted by Simon Jangulashvili, Kakha Solomonishvili, Nikoloz Rachveli, and Nino Tsiklauri.
On October 17, 2017, the world premiere of Gyia Kancheli’s new work “Deda Ena (Mother Tongue)” for Girl’s choir and orchestra took place in the Great Hall of the Rustaveli Theatre, performed by the Girl’s choir of the Sulkhan Tsintsadze Music College in Gori and the Georgian Symphony Orchestra named after Evgeni Mikeladze, conducted by Nikoloz Rachveli.
The girls’ choir of the Sulkhan Tsintsadze Music College in Gori has participated in almost all significant city or republican events.
