The children’s choir “Zvezdice” was founded in 2002 in the aftermath of the Balkan wars with the support of UNDP – the United Nations Development Program for the development and promotion of cultural activities among the young population. Despite difficult social and economic conditions, the choir named after the stars has become one of the best youth choirs in Serbia. The choir supports the artistic education of talented children and has thus become an important institution for the cultural and social development of the region. The young singers regularly go on concert tours throughout Europe and have won several prizes at international competitions. The ensemble “Zvezdice”, founded in 2021, represents the choir school in Basel with 25 singers aged 14-18. Jelena Cvetković Crvenica is the conductor and artistic director. She is a professor at the University in Niš, where she teaches methodology of ear training.
