Bündner Jugendchor, Switzerland
The Youth Choir of Graubünden, founded in 2004, is taking part in the European Youth Choir Festival Basel for the second time this year. The choir unites young talented adults from the trilingual canton of Graubünden to form an award-winning ensemble. Participation in festivals and competitions as well as concert tours to near and foreign countries are regular highlights for the choir. Encounters with different people and cultures are an integral part of its philosophy. The repertoire includes Romansh songs as well as international literature of all styles. The founder and director Martin Zimmermann is a primary school teacher, school musician and clarinetist. In addition to his teaching activities, he is a member of the Music Commission of the Swiss Choral Association. In 2017 he received an award of recognition from the canton of Graubünden.
