Jugendchor «ATempo!» der Musikschule Basel, Switzerland
The youth choir “ATempo!” consists of about 45 singers aged 18-22. Some of the singers have been singing together in this formation since their first year of school. The choir is part of the choir school at the Basel Music School, which includes 9 different choirs. The repertoire, which expands every year, is presented at various concerts in and outside the Music Academy Basel. Participation at the European Youth Choir Festival Basel and the Swiss Children’s and Youth Choir Festival are among the highlights of the choir’s year. The repertoire includes folk songs from Switzerland and other countries, popular music, as well as short classical works and is open to voice experiments of all kinds. The youth choir “ATempo!” is led by two choir directors. Maria Laschinger is a voice instructor and singer. Regina Hui is not only a voice and music teacher, but also works as a violinist.
